|
The Maple Marauders defeated the San Francisco Earthquakes, 2-0, in Thurman Munson League action at Golden Gate Park, with Maple pitcher Héctor Zúñiga named player of the game. Zúñiga went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 12-4. The first-place Marauders, at 86-30, now lead their division by 12½ games.
The Marauders got a big at-bat from shortstop Alejandro Marés. For the game, Marés went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the top of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Maple a 1-0 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Marés said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
