Marauders Turn Back San Francisco, 3-1
|
The Maple Marauders topped the San Francisco Earthquakes, 3-1, in Thurman Munson League action at Golden Gate Park. The player of the game was Maple pitcher Paul Barrett. Maple leads the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division by 12 games.
Had Angel Barajas not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Barajas hit a run-scoring triple. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Marauders.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Maple manager Jesús Alfaro. "Our pregame was pretty good."
