Islanders Reel Off Another Win
|
The Hawaii Islanders downed the New York Mafia, 8-4, at Aloha Stadium. The Islanders were led by Bagaskoro Pakpahan, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ehrich Weiss earned the win for Hawaii. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 8-7. The second-place Islanders have won 7 in a row.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth when Pakpahan, who is on pace for 100 RBI this season, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Islanders into the lead, 6-4.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Pakpahan said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
