Beavers Get Past Seattle for 3-2 Win
|
Portland Beavers starter Peter McColgan pitched a strong game against the Seattle Sasquatch at Waterfront Park, leading the Beavers to a 3-2 win. Jake Adkins picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. António Navarro was tagged with the loss. Olivier Martin earned his 27th save in 32 chances.
Had Cesar Sandino not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Sandino hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Beavers.
"I had a good game plan," said McColgan. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," John Harrison said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
The win boosts the Beavers to 56-61. The loss puts the Sasquatch at 37-78.
