Sasquatch Lose to Beavers, 5-1
|
The Portland Beavers racked up a win at Waterfront Park, bumping off the Seattle Sasquatch, 5-1. Hajime Ota, who started for Portland, pitched effectively for his team. In 8 innings, Ota surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Beavers have now won 4 straight.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from first baseman Lai-hsiang Xiu. For the game, Xiu went 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 93rd hit of the season gave Portland a 2-0 lead.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Portland manager John Harrison.
