Hops Lose to Islanders, 7-4
|
Despite a fine performance by third baseman An-yi Bian, the San Diego Hops suffered a 7-4 loss to the Hawaii Islanders. Bian was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ehrich Weiss, credited with the win, is now 7-7. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings. Bernalldo Rocchi, credited with the save, is now 23 for 27 in save opportunities.
The Islanders had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 7-4, Hawaii, with no one out. San Diego, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Addy de Zeeuw dug in at the plate, but on a 1-1 sinker, he flied out.
The Islanders bumped their record to 62-48 with this latest triumph.
