Bombers Lose to Tornadoes, 5-2
|
Kansas City played host to South Carolina at the friendly confines of Debris Field.
The Kansas City Tornadoes knocked off the South Carolina Bombers, 5-2, at Debris Field. Mark Clubb, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Kansas City won. The center fielder was 1-2 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was Al Bates, who threw 84 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits. Norberto Barrón converted his 4th save in 4 tries.
Clubb contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Kansas City in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Clubb took a fastball from Beau Miller and stroked the double to left-center. His 13th double of the season allowed the Tornadoes to leap in front, 2-1.
Clubb called the win "a collective effort."
At 39-71, Kansas City is in 5th place in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.
