Dave Bartlett could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his So Cal Republic lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Cabo San Lucas Toreros at Field de Los Layendas. The win was Ramón Gonzáles's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Dave Bartlett took the loss for So Cal. Tony Varela, credited with the save, is now 4 for 6 in save opportunities.
Ramón Márquez, who is rated as the 57th best prospect by BNN, aided the Cabo San Lucas cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder was 2-4 with a double.
Márquez called the win "a collective effort."
Their 36-64 record puts the Toreros last in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
