Islanders Lose, 12-5, at The Death Star
|
The Hawaii Islanders got a sterling performance from right fielder Jesús Solís, but the Grays still prevailed, 12-5. Solís was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Bill Piner got credit for the win, improving to 2-7. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 7.1 innings. Even with the win, the Grays have a dismal 35-65 record.
Salvador Ramos's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for Georgia. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Georgia trailing 3-1, the first baseman reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 2 runs.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Davey Morris said.
