Shuo Lifts Black Knights to 6-3 Win
|
The Brooklyn Black Knights grabbed a 6-3 win over the Vancouver Pioneers at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. Brooklyn designated hitter Ze-min Shuo was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 to earn player of the game honors. Jan Shirazi, the winner, improved to 9-8. He held the Pioneers to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 5. Mike MacInroy got the save, his 8th in 8 chances.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when second baseman Ichiyo Yano, the seven overall pick in the 2027 draft, hit a single. The Black Knights went on to win.
"We take it day by day here," said Yano, "and today was a good one for us."
The Black Knights bumped their record to 54-43 with this latest triumph.
