Home Loss Shrinks Republic' Series Lead to 2-1
|
The Maple Marauders have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading So Cal Republic, winning 4-2 at House of the Republic today. Marauders left-hander Ze-dong Zhang was named player of the game after he threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Marauders to 2-1 in the best-of-7 ABL World Series.
Had Ángel Vázquez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Vázquez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Marauders.
"We're happy," Vázquez told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Los Angeles. The scheduled starters for the game are Umarah Abdul-Quddus for the Maple Marauders and Elias Bowen for the the So Cal Republic.
