Almost There: Antioch On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 6-1 Win
|
The Antioch Coal Miners moved to within one game of the Triple A World Series today, downing the Detroit Death Stars on the road at The Death Star by a score of 6-1. Coal Miners right-hander Takeji Ogawa was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Coal Miners a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Triple A League Championship.
Ogawa, the Antioch right-hander, went 8.2 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits. He collected 9 strikeouts.
"I liked his command," said Antioch manager Hervé Barthélémy. "Takeji was throwing strikes."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Detroit. Slated to start are Kang-il Hyong for the Antioch Coal Miners and Noritoshi Hayashi for the the Detroit Death Stars.
