McFarland, Coal Miners Sink Death Stars Again in Game 2
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of first baseman Scott McFarland, the Antioch Coal Miners stopped the visiting Detroit Death Stars, 9-3, in Game 2 of the Triple A League Championship today. McFarland went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Coal Miners, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
McFarland had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Coal Miners went on to win.
"Ever since we qualified for the playoffs, the guys have been razzing me about how I'm going to embarrass myself out there," the rookie McFarland said with a smile. "I'm glad to prove them wrong, at least for a day."
The next game is scheduled for Friday, October 21st, 2033 at The Death Star.
