Schäfer, Antioch Start Triple A League Championship Strong with Home Win
The Antioch Coal Miners started the Triple A League Championship in style today, downing the visiting Detroit Death Stars at The Coal Mine by a score of 10-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Coal Miners second baseman Roger Schäfer was named player of the game after he was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3.

Scott McFarland chipped in for Antioch with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 5 runs batted in.

Said losing manager David Parker: "Give the Coal Miners credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
