Cacti Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
Despite a great performance by Fairfield designated hitter Qian Thean, the Albuquerque Cacti defeated the Flash by the score of 7-6 at Albuquerque Sports Stadium today. Thean went 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Cacti from moving one game closer to the Triple A World Series. Albuquerque now leads the Triple A League Championship 3-0.

Tied up with the Flash in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cacti got a boost from first baseman Kijuro Masuda. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Masuda saw a 2-2 fastball from Pat Bertram and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Albuquerque on top, 5-4.

"The rain was definitely not preferable," Masuda said. "It worked out fine I guess, but we'll be happy if we see the sun next time."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow in Albuquerque. Slated to start are Frank Hillier for Fairfield and Ron Callaghan for Albuquerque.
