Coal Miners Hammered by Okuta, Drop Game 4 to Cacti
|
Handed an opportunity to take a commanding lead in the Triple A World Series, the Antioch Coal Miners could not close the deal.
Game 4 went into extra frames and the Albuquerque Cacti emerged victorious, taking a 10-inning, 8-7 win. Albuquerque right fielder Munoto Okuta was named player of the game. He went was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once in the win at The Coal Mine today to drag the Cacti back to parity. The clubs are now tied 2-2 in the best-of-7 series.
The most crucial at-bat for Albuquerque came in the top of the tenth inning. That's when Okuta stroked a 0-1 fastball to left for a run-scoring single, putting Albuquerque up, 8-7.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Albuquerque manager Tom Robertson told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Triple A World Series, it's only going to get harder."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Coal Mine in Antioch. The scheduled starters for the game are James Crowe for Albuquerque and Takeji Ogawa for Antioch.
