Coal Miners, Cacti Play 11 to Settle Game 3, Antioch Now Leads Series 2-1
|
The Antioch Coal Miners got a strong game from starter Adam Pitkeathy, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Coal Miners took the 3-2 win over the Albuquerque Cacti in Game 3 of the Triple A World Series in a 11th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Pitkeathy, who was named player of the game. Pitkeathy threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which gave the Coal Miners a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Antioch left fielder Harry May, facing Hisataro Sato, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Coal Miners the 3-2 win.
"This team is championship material," May told BNN reporters after the game. "I can see it when I look around the clubhouse. We've still got a long way to go, but I know this team."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at The Coal Mine in Antioch. Slated to start are Luis García for the Albuquerque Cacti and Takeji Ogawa for the the Antioch Coal Miners.
