Road Win Lifts Antioch to 1-0 Lead in R2
The Antioch Coal Miners started the Triple A World Series in style today, winning on the road against the Albuquerque Cacti at Albuquerque Sports Stadium by a score of 5-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Coal Miners right-hander Rick Childress was named player of the game after he threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball.

Alex Bahena helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 3-run home run to give Antioch a 3-0 lead.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Childress. "Successful pitchers do it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Albuquerque. Slated to start are Adam Pitkeathy for Antioch and Ron Callaghan for Albuquerque.
