Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Mustangs, 3-2
|
The San Angelo Mustangs moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the Brisbane Bush Wackers 3-2 in a low-scoring, extra-inning affair at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. Leading the way for the Mustangs was right-hander Kunio Otsuka, who was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Mustangs a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Single A World Series.
Late in the game, left fielder Adrian Jimenez had a big at-bat for San Angelo. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single off Jose Laracuente. The play gave the Mustangs a 3-2 lead.
"I had a good game plan," said Otsuka. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Clyde Bowman said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, October 30th, 2033. The scheduled starters for the game are Oscar Mata for San Angelo and Alexis Nunez for Brisbane.
