Fans at The Range were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Yuma Varmits take on the The Stinging Larvae.

Left-hander Carlos Ruíz mesmerized the Yuma Varmits while leading the The Stinging Larvae to a 6-0 victory. The Larvae bumped their record to 35-31 with this latest triumph.

Dave Alejo, who is tied for 6th in the CFL in triples with 3, aided the The Stinging cause with a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

When asked about his performance after the game, Ruíz said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
