Cardinals Come Up Short at Lumber
|
The Lumber Kings topped the Montreal Cardinals, 4-3, in Cecil Fielder League action at Epic Park. The player of the game was Lumber pitcher Francisco Valenzuela. Valenzuela went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-5. Lumber is now 17-48, Montreal 37-28.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, third baseman Danny Hernandez came through big-time for the Kings. With Lumber leading 3-2, he belted a solo home run.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hernandez. "And not try to do too much."
