Sabercats Turn Back Yuma, 5-4
|
Sedona right-hander Ruben Fernandez pitched his team to victory over the Yuma Varmits at The Lair at Sabercat Field. The final score was 5-4. The winning pitcher was Fernandez, now 7-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Mike Foust was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 12 save opportunities.
Bob Scott, who leads the CFL in doubles with 21, helped out the Sedona cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher was 1-3.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Sedona manager Edgardo Bautista.
Sedona now sits at 36-27, while Yuma falls to 33-30.
