St.john Excels, But Grognards Win
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the St. Paul Grognards and Sedona Sabercats came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Sedona left fielder Bill St.john had a good game, even if his team did not. The Sabercats dropped a 10-6 decision to St. Paul at The Thunderdome. St.john went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. St. Paul reliever Dave Barrett picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-4. Curt Osborn was collared with the loss.
Matthew Rogers, who is tied for 3rd in the CFL in extra base hits with 29, helped out the St. Paul cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a bases-clearing double. For the game, the third baseman was 2-5 with a double, while adding 3 RBI.
Rogers described the clubhouse as "strangely calm" after the game.
At 26-31, the Grognards find themselves in 5th place in the Cecil Fielder League Otto Velez Division.
