The Stinging beat Victoria in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The The Stinging Larvae topped the Victoria Totems, 5-2, in Cecil Fielder League action at Royal Athletic Park. The player of the game was The Stinging first baseman Jeremy Gordon. Bob Campos earned the win to go to 5-5. He allowed 2 earned runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Vince Johnson picked up the save, his 12th.
The Larvae got a big at-bat from center fielder Luke Van Ness. For the game, Van Ness was 1 for 4. In the top of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 41st hit of the season gave The Stinging a 1-0 lead.
"We did a lot of things right," said Gordon.
