Victory Pushes Varmits Record to 28-24
|
Behind a solid performance from shortstop Félix Hernández, the Yuma Varmits defeated the St. Paul Grognards, 7-3. Hernández was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Varmits. Yuma reliever Chris Wilson picked up the win to move to 8-2. Bill Perez suffered the loss. The Varmits bumped their record to 28-24 with this latest triumph.
With Yuma leading 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Hernández hit a changeup from Bill Perez for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Varmits ahead, 6-0.
"It feels good to get this one," Hernández told the Yuma Gazette.
