Multi-HR Day for Dick as Varmits Overpower Nutcrackers, 5-1
|
A 3-RBI performance from first baseman Phil Dick, who is tied for 2nd in the CFL with a .440 on-base percentage, led the Yuma Varmits to a 5-1 win over the Normal Nutcrackers. The Varmits bumped their record to 26-23 with this latest triumph.
Dick had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Andy Kelly, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Varmits a 3-1 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Dick.
In postgame comments to the Yuma Gazette, Dick said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
