Victory Pushes Nutcrackers Record to 23-21
The Normal Nutcrackers went home winners at Epic Park, thanks in large part to starter Cedric Gold. Gold silenced the Lumber Kings, enabling Normal to grab the 4-1 win. David Vince sewed up the save, his 11th. The Nutcrackers, now at 23-21, know that wins in February count the same as wins in September.

The Nutcrackers got a big at-bat from shortstop Dave Franco. For the game, Franco went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 50th hit of the season gave Normal a 1-0 lead.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Franco told reporters after the game.
