Larvae Clip Tribbles in Tight Contest
|
The The Stinging Larvae trumped the Rosewell Tribbles, 6-4, at The Queen. The Stinging right fielder Ben Gleason was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Stinging reliever Vince Johnson was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was David Guerrero. The win puts the Larvae at 19-20, while the Tribbles drop to 21-18.
Gleason had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 2-1 sinker from Rey Luera, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Larvae a 6-4 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Gleason.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gleason.
