Grognards Prevail, 5-4, Over Wichita

The St. Paul Grognards stopped the Wichita Storm, 5-4, at The Storm Center. The Grognards got a big game from Curt Sweet, who was 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Milt Heffernan, who threw 84 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with no runs on 2 hits. Ben Krupnik got credit for the save for St. Paul. It was his 5th of the year.
Ross Stinson, who is tied for 8th in the CFL in triples with 2, aided the St. Paul cause with a 2-run double in the top of the seventh. For the game, the second baseman went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Sweet told the St. Paul Daily News.
Wichita's current losing streak is now 4 games.
