Grognards Stymie Paradise Island, Take 4-1 Win
|
George McCurry never let the Pirates get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his circle change, to pitch the Grognards to a 4-1 win. McCurry picked up the win for St. Paul, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. Ben Krupnik earned the save for St. Paul, his 4th.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, catcher Peter Southern came through big-time for the Grognards. With St. Paul trailing 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Paradise Island skipper Tsurayuki Inoue, "and it cost us."
The win puts the Grognards at 17-20, while the Pirates drop to 10-27.
