DeWoody Leads Nutcrackers to Win over Grognards
Spirited fans at The Thunderdome greeted the St. Paul Grognards for their clash with the Normal Nutcrackers.

The Normal Nutcrackers defeated the St. Paul Grognards, 11-7, at The Thunderdome today. Leading the charge for Normal was third baseman Jamie DeWoody. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once. Normal reliever Tim Gresham picked up the win to move to 1-1. Milt Heffernan suffered the loss.

Ryosaku Nishimura contributed to the Normal win with a 3-run home run in the top of the second. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Normal manager Richard Lawson.

Their 16-17 record puts the Nutcrackers 5th in the Cecil Fielder League Fred McGriff Division.
