Nutcrackers Drop Tribbles with Late Score
|
The Normal Nutcrackers defeated the Rosewell Tribbles, 8-6, at Classified Field today. Leading the charge for Normal was right fielder Ryosaku Nishimura. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Normal reliever Cedric Gold picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mark Luoto was saddled with the loss. David Vince locked down his 9th save.
The Nutcrackers got a big at-bat from first baseman Scott Tuff. For the game, Tuff was 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 34th hit of the season gave Normal a 8-6 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Tuff told the Normal Herald.
Normal is now 15-15, Rosewell 16-14.
