Yuma got a terrific performance from pitcher Hugo Torres, but it wasn't enough to beat the Wichita Storm. Wichita won the The Storm Center contest, 2-0. Torres was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The save was credited to Yutaka Sasaki, his 6th. The third-place Varmits have lost 7 consecutive games.

Had Sam Carpenter not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Carpenter hit a 2-run double. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Storm.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Wichita manager Chance Jackson.
