Cardinals Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Grognards
|
The rain came, as predicted, but the Montreal Cardinals and St. Paul Grognards were able to complete their ballgame.
Mark Raffaelli had a good game, but he could not keep the St. Paul Grognards from falling, 5-4, to the Montreal Cardinals at The Thunderdome. The St. Paul center fielder was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk in the loss. Montreal has 3 straight wins, St. Paul 3 straight losses.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Scott Corkum came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing St. Paul pitcher Ben Krupnik, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Montreal on top, 5-4.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Corkum said after the game.
