Varmits Come Back Late to Top Pirates
|
The Yuma Varmits scored a 3-2 win versus the Paradise Island Pirates at Predator Park. Yuma pitcher Eloy Cisneros nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Chris Wilson, credited with the win, is now 4-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. The Varmits have an impressive 13-7 record.
The Varmits got a big at-bat from designated hitter Adam Champagne. For the game, Champagne was 1 for 4. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 17th hit of the season gave Yuma a 3-2 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Champagne said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
