Varmits Get Close Win Over Totems
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Alex Esparza, the Victoria Totems suffered a 6-5 loss to the Yuma Varmits. Esparza went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mike Jones got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 11 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Juan Munoz got credit for the save for Yuma. It was his 1st of the year.
