Martínez Shines in Armada Win
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Quebec Armada bested the Georgia Grays by a score of 7-3, with shortstop Pancho Martínez getting the main credit. On the day, Martínez was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times for the Armada. Minh-Duc Pamungkas, credited with the win, is now 5-5. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings. Joachim Doucet got the save, his 22nd in 25 chances.
Quebec used the bat of Sok-yung An to get the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Armada ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.
In postgame remarks, An said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
Quebec leads the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division by 3˝ games.
