Tribbles Stymie Paradise Island, Take 3-1 Win
|
Fans of the Rosewell Tribbles who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Rosewell win over the visiting Paradise Island Pirates, 3-1. Carlos Hernandez started for the home team against Jeff Bearce. Carlos Hernandez earned the coveted player of the game honors. Hernandez went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 10. His record improves to 1-0. Mark Luoto earned the save, his 1st, for the Tribbles.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Edwin Hodges didn't flinch. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Paradise Island trailing 3-1, Hodges retired Wade Szarek to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Hodges, with a wink.
