Farmers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Bomberos
Fans who came to Poters Field watched the Union Farmers and the El Paso Bomberos fight to the finish.

Union left fielder José Moreno was a significant contributor in his team's 8-7 triumph over the El Paso Bomberos. He went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5 for Union. Union reliever Ryan Wise picked up the win to move to 1-0. Zach Faulkner suffered the loss.

Kenny Ruffatto was the walk-off hero for Union. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Farmers shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Farmers manager Rudy Bernier wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."

The Farmers, at 24-45, sit in 5th place in the Prince Fielder League John Mayberry Division.
