Jerry Swope was instrumental in his team's 11-5 triumph over the Union Farmers. Had Jorge Cardenas not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Cardenas hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Commies.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Cardenas told a Caribbean Gazette reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
