Eric Sauer could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Santa Barbara Suenos lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Scottsdale Scorpions at Dream Park. Reliever Nelson Ramirez picked up the win. His record improves to 6-1. Eric Sauer took the loss. The Scorpions now have a record of 23-36 with the win over Santa Barbara.
The Scorpions got a big at-bat from third baseman Curt Mayle. For the game, Mayle went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the eighth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Scottsdale a 2-1 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Scottsdale skipper Marcel Devaux.
