|
Union Farmers starter Fidel Castro pitched a strong game against the Scottsdale Scorpions at Scottsdale Stadium, leading the Farmers to a 3-2 win. Castro picked up the win for Union, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Even with the win, the Farmers have a dismal 19-39 record.
The Farmers got a big at-bat from first baseman Ric Witkoski. For the game, Witkoski went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Union a 3-1 lead.
After the game, Union manager Rudy Bernier applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
