Farmers Scratch and Claw to 4-2 Win
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Ton Oosterwijk, the Union Farmers defeated the Framingham Fighting Camels, 4-2. Oosterwijk went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Farmers. Javier Polanco got the win, improving to 2-2. He worked 8 innings, giving up 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Joe Manfredi finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Oosterwijk had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 fastball from Mike Weschler, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Farmers a 4-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Oosterwijk.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Oosterwijk.
Union now has a 3-game win streak.
