Fighting Camels Win at Augusta, 5-1
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Framingham Fighting Camels topped the Augusta Rail Riders, 5-1, with center fielder Fred Seiffert playing a big role. Seiffert went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Fighting Camels in the win. Gohta Yamashiro got the win, improving to 2-3. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0.
Seiffert contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Framingham in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Seiffert took a cutter from Ryuhei Akamine and stroked the home run to left. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Fighting Camels to leap in front, 2-1.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Seiffert said.
Even with the win, the Fighting Camels have a dismal 9-23 record.
