The Augusta Rail Riders racked up a win at Vin Scully Park, bumping off the Brooklyn Cyclones, 3-2. Ernesto Guevara, who started for Augusta, pitched effectively for his team. Guevara went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 5-1. Devon Labonte got credit for the save for Augusta. It was his 8th of the year.
Sergio Ferrer drove in one run for Augusta. The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Alex Figueroa. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Alex Romero.
The 4th-place Rail Riders now have a win-loss record of 14-16.
