The Scorpions faced a stiff challenge from Boca Raton pitcher Juan Duran, but persevered to claim a win at Scottsdale Stadium. The final score was 6-2. Duran went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Nelson Ramirez got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 4.1 innings. Even with the win, the Scorpions have a dismal 9-20 record.

Gabe Rogers had a big run-scoring double for the Scorpions in the bottom of the second inning. With Scottsdale leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Juan Duran and stroked the double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scorpions ahead, 4-2.

"We take it day by day here," said Rogers, "and today was a good one for us."
