|
The Brooklyn Cyclones picked up a win at Dream Park, knocking off the Santa Barbara Suenos, 6-3. Starting pitcher Jose Ortiz played a key role in the triumph. Ortiz, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 10, walking 1, and allowing 3 earned runs. Kenny Moran, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Had Gil Perez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Perez hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Cyclones.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Ortiz.
Brooklyn has an impressive 15-6 record.
