KO Come Up Short at Scottsdale
Scottsdale played host to Long Beach at the friendly confines of Scottsdale Stadium.

The Long Beach KO got a superb performance from pitcher Mike Tallman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Scottsdale. The Scorpions won the game, 1-0. In spite of the loss, Tallman was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Scottsdale reliever Dean Hatfield picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Mike Tallman was collared with the loss.

Salvador Cruz, who is tied for 5th in the PFL in total bases with 46, aided the Scottsdale cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Cruz.

Even with the win, the Scorpions have a dismal 5-16 record.
