In a low-scoring tilt between the Caribbean Commies and the Scottsdale Scorpions, Luis Santana was the difference-maker. The Caribbean left-hander earned player of the game honors in the 2-1 win. At 8-8, Caribbean is in second place in the Prince Fielder League John Mayberry Division.

Santana was in the zone all game. He frustrated Scottsdale hitters while giving the Commies 6.1 innings of quality work. Santana threw 88 pitches, allowing 3 hits and getting 10 punchouts.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Scottsdale skipper Marcel Devaux, "and it cost us."
