Commies Prevail, 3-1, Over Scottsdale
Scottsdale Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Scottsdale Scorpions and Caribbean Commies.

The Caribbean Commies defeated the Scottsdale Scorpions, 3-1, in Prince Fielder League action at Scottsdale Stadium, with Caribbean pitcher Roberto Pacheco named player of the game. Pacheco went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Jose Laracuente earned the save, his 6th.

In the top of the third, Jorge Cardenas hit a 2-run home run for Caribbean. The 2nd home run of the season for the Caribbean left fielder put the Commies on top, 2-0.

"It was a good effort all around," said Cardenas.

Caribbean occupies 4th place in the Prince Fielder League John Mayberry Division at 7-8.
